PIERRE, S.D. -- Maj. Gen. Tim Reisch, adjutant general of the South Dakota National Guard, takes a moment to thank Senior Airman Sarah Callies, 114th Fighter Wing Intelligence, and Staff Sgt. Kevin Callies, 114th Fighter Wing Communications Flight, at the Ft. Pierre Expo Center May 31, 2011. Both Sarah and Kevin, siblings within the 114th Fighter Wing, volunteered for state active duty to assist with flood relief. To date, more than 900 Soldiers and Airmen from the South Dakota National Guard have been called to support the flood fighting efforts along the Missouri River. (SDNG photo by Capt. DAKOTA DUNES, S.D. - Lt. Col. Brandon Eskam, 114th Fighter Wing, Sioux Falls, uses a two-way radio to guide an Army National Guard UH-60 Helicopter hauling 2,500 pound sandbags in Dakota Dunes, Thursday, June 2, 2011. The large sandbags will help strengthen the levee at Division D of the Dakota Dunes levee project. Soldiers and Airmen are working around the clock in this historic flooding event and continue to work side by side with local, state and federal agencies and volunteers to provide flooding assistance to the citizens of South Dakota. DAKOTA DUNES, S.D. - South Dakota Army National Guard Soldiers from the 153rd Forward Support Company of Parkston work with a conveyor belt filling 2,500 pound sandbags. The sandbags will be air lifted into difficult-to-reach areas of the levee being constructed along the Missouri River in the Dakota Dunes area, Thursday, June 2, 2011. Children from the Children's Castle and East Side Day Care delivered bags of treats to Soldiers of the South Dakota National Guard filling sandbags at the Georgia Morse Middle School in Pierre, Friday, June 3, 2011. PIERRE, S.D. -- Tech. Sgt. Kevin Elder, a Crew Chief with the 114th Fighter Wing, assists Pierre resident Mark Barnett with another load of sandbags. More than 200 South Dakota Air National Guard Airmen were activated on May 30 as part of an effort to minimize flooding throughout the cities of Pierre and Ft. Pierre, S.D.
