114th Fighter Wing mission evolving
DAKOTA DUNES, S.D. - Lt. Col. Brandon Eskam, 114th Fighter Wing, briefs unit personnel in a classroom at the University of South Dakota campus in Vermillion, S.D. June 5. Eskam discusses their recent change in missions at the flooding support along the Missouri River. The 114th will be finishing its sandbagging mission June 6 and beginning its new levee patrol mission on Tuesday, June 7. Role of activated Soldiers, Airmen changing
FT. PIERRE, S.D. - Tech. Sgt. Sean Gilstorf, 114th Fighter Wing is on his first day of levee patrol in Fort Pierre June 4 transitioning to new duties after four days of filling sandbags. Although Soldiers and Airmen are being re-tasked for different missions, sandbagging efforts still continue in the Pierre, Fort Pierre and Dakota Dunes areas. Currently, nearly 1,300 South Dakota Air and Army National Guard members are performing flood operations support throughout the state during this historic Missouri River flooding event. Cooperation guides transition from levee construction to oversight
FORT PIERRE, S.D. - South Dakota Air National Guard Tech. Sgt Kodi Ingle, native of Chamberlain, a weather technician with the 114th Fighter Wing, monitors the Fort Pierre berm with Airmen 1st Class Spencer Daniels, native of Canton, a hydraulics technician with the 114th FW June 6, 2011. In addition to maintaining levee security, personnel and equipment are in place to provide quick reaction forces for levee reinforcement if needed. SD National Guard Adjutant General visits Airmen, Soldiers on flood duty
PIERRE, S.D. -- Maj. Gen. Tim Reisch, adjutant general of the South Dakota National Guard, takes a moment to thank Senior Airman Sarah Callies, 114th Fighter Wing Intelligence, and Staff Sgt. Kevin Callies, 114th Fighter Wing Communications Flight, at the Ft. Pierre Expo Center May 31, 2011. Both Sarah and Kevin, siblings within the 114th Fighter Wing, volunteered for state active duty to assist with flood relief.
