Senior Master Sgt. Tim Wenzel, 114th Force Support Squadron services supervisor, participated in the International Chef Cook-off with assistance from Senior Airman Jesse Volek, 114th Force Support Squadron services food service specialist, Nov. 3, 2016 at the Multi-cultural Center of Sioux Falls, Sioux Falls, S.D. This is the second annual event and it is a fundraiser for the Multi-cultural Center of Sioux Falls.

Wenzel and Volek participated as a team last year as well.

"We are doing this to showcase the culinary skills of the South Dakota Air National Guard," said Wenzel. "It is also a good way to give back to Sioux Falls' growing diverse community."

There were 16 chefs from different organizations and businesses around the area. Each chef made enough of their dish so that everyone in attendance could have a taste. The dishes ranged from chili to chicken and waffles.

"We decided to cook Thai chicken balls with coconut curry sauce," said Volek.

The judging was done by popular vote where each attendee casted their vote by placing a ticket in a ballot box at each chef's table. The outcome was not what Wenzel and Volek were hoping for.

"We didn't win but people really liked our dish," said Wenzel. "It was a lot of fun and I am looking forward to next year."
