Col. Laurie A. Tidemann, HQ SDANG strategic plans officer, was promoted to the rank of Colonel and recognized by family and unit members at a ceremony held June 4, 2016 at Joe Foss Field, S.D.  Pinning her with her new rank were her siblings, Maj. Lisa Tidemann, 114th Logistics Readiness officer, and Master Sgt. Eric Tidemann, 114th Recruiting Office supervisor.

The promotion marks the third time in South Dakota Air National Guard history that a female has been promoted to the rank of Colonel.

"I was enlisted for 12 years before I got the opportunity to get my commission, and feel that my enlisted time helped me learn a lot about responsibility, leadership, and how important a good work ethic is," said Col. Tidemann.

Col. Tidemann enlisted in the South Dakota Air National Guard in 1986.  She was commissioned in 1998 as the Officer in Charge of Customer Support.  In 2004, Tidemann gained command of the 114th Services Flight.  In 2009, she transferred to Joint Force Headquarters at Joe Foss Field.  She currently serves as the Strategic Plans Office for HQ's, South Dakota Air National Guard.

"I am thankful that I have been able to work with and for some great people. I feel blessed and honored that leadership has had confidence in me and hope to be a good leader and mentor going forward."
