A ceremony to announce the change of responsibility for the South Dakota Air National Guard State Command Chief was held at Joe Foss Field, S.D., March 5, 2016. Chief Master Sgt. Jean Gacke accepted her new responsibility as the State Command Chief by Chief Master Sgt. James M. Welch.

Gacke was appointed as the State Command Chief on Dec. 4, 2015.

Command Chief Gacke will be working closely with recently appointed Army Command Sgt. Maj. James Hoekman, South Dakota National Guard senior enlisted leader.

"I'm looking forward to working with Chief Gacke to bring both Army and Air National Guard closer together which will make both our organizations better," said Hoekman.

Gacke's full-time position with the 114th Security Forces Squadron as Security Manager will remain the same.

"This position allows me to help the next generation and I want to thank the men and women of the South Dakota Air National Guard for allowing me to represent you," said Gacke.
