Rising 6 members volunteer Published Nov. 2, 2016 By Staff Sgt. Duane Duimstra 114th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Sioux Falls, S.D. (Nov. 1, 2016) -- 114th Fighter Wing Rising 6 members and Soldiers from the South Dakota Army National Guard volunteered through the Workers on Wheels Rake the Town project Oct. 29, 2016. It was a great opportunity for Airmen and Soldiers to work together to support the local community and help those in need. Approximately 38 airmen, soldiers, and their families volunteered to rake the yards of ten homes of elderly and disabled community members. The group made up five teams and cleaned up lawns all across Sioux Falls. "The event went very well," said Tech. Sgt. Jonathan Leffring, South Dakota Air National Guard Rising 6 president. "We had great Airmen and Soldiers helping out." Working efficiently combined with good team work led to finishing all the houses in record time. Rake the town was a successful event which showed our military members how they can help support local communities and also strengthen the team work between Airmen and Soldiers. "Rake the Town was a great opportunity to work with the Army in helping out in the community," said Leffring. "With this event going so well I don't see why we can't partner up with them more often."
