114th Fighter Wing senior enlisted members held their inaugural enlisted Top 3 meeting at Joe Foss Field, March 5, 2017.

The purpose of the Top 3 is to foster improved communication, collaboration, and engagement between the units of the Wing as well as provide a forum for sound decision making and high-impact mentoring.

“Our goal is to fulfill the commander’s priority of taking care of Airmen. Communicating and providing every Airmen a voice.” said Senior Master Sgt. Anne Williams, 114th Munitions production superintendent. “The idea of the group is that it will improve communication, engagement, morale, and performance resulting in time savings and improved work efficiency.”

The Top 3 consists of master sergeants, senior master sergeants, and chief master sergeants and will offer them an opportunity to develop their leadership and management skills. The hope is that members of the Top 3 will be able to mentor Airmen, and be mentored by their enlisted leadership.  This is not a new concept per se, but is new to the 114th Fighter Wing.

“This is the first time in my career I’ve been a part of a Top 3 organization and I look forward to being a part of a group that brings all these years of experience together in one place to brainstorm what we can do to improve things for everyone.” said Senior Master Sgt. Nancy Ausland, 114th Fighter Wing public affairs superintendent.

The creation of the Top 3 will benefit both enlisted and officers. It will be the go-to for Airmen, leadership, and other functioning groups across the base when tackling issues and challenges, and creating new ideas on how to overcome them.

“We will advocate and assist with things such as fitness testing, professional military education, and balancing work and personal issues.” said Williams.
