Leadership Challenge Program visits Sioux Falls Published Jan. 11, 2012 By Staff Sgt. Trisha Smeenk 114 Fighter Wing Public Affairs SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - -- The 114th Fighter Wing held a Leadership Challenge Program Jan. 4-8. This was the first joint conference of its kind for members of the South Dakota Air and Army National Guard. This program is designed to enhance emerging leaders' development through self-awareness by using psychometric assessments. Members worked on improving individual and group performance by building awareness of their individual strengths, weaknesses and abilities. Participants also received a personal assessment they used to gain self-awareness for different challenges in the seminar. Tech. Sgt. Kristina Niedert, 175th Fighter Squadron, attended the two day program. "You know most of the information we're learning in the seminars, but you just don't realize it. The Leadership Challenge Program is interesting and fun. It really makes you think!" said Niedert. Since the Leadership Challenge Program started, 180 members of the South Dakota Air National Guard have had the opportunity to go through the experience. Along with the two day LCP seminars, a banquet that focused on leadership in changing times and featured Col. Andre Berry as a guest speaker was held at the unit. Leadership Challenge Programs have been deployed throughout the Air National Guard over the past three years and have taken place at the 114th Fighter Wing six more times than with any other Air National Guard unit.
