Wajer Program Director SIOUX FALLS, SD -- In a continued effort to recognize our truly outstanding volunteers, the South Dakota National Guard Family Programs Office, recognizes a Military Family, Family Programs Volunteer, and Military member annually. Award recipients are recognized for their contributions to service members and their families through their volunteer efforts with the Family Program within their units and statewide. Award recipients for 2009 were as follows: Family Programs Military Family of the Year Air: Steve & Sharon Warren, 114th Fighter Wing in Sioux Falls, SD Hometown is Sioux Falls. Family Programs Volunteer of the Year Air: Christina Smith, 114th Fighter Wing in Sioux Falls, SD Hometown is Brandon Family Programs Military Member of the Year Air: Master Sergeant Sara Hilmoe, 114th Fighter Wing in Sioux Falls, SD Hometown is Sioux Falls Award recipients were specially recognized at the State Family Programs Workshop in Chamberlain/Oacoma, SD on March 13th at an awards banquet. The workshop was held at the Cedar Shores Resort. The purpose of the State Volunteer Workshop and Youth Symposium is to provide networking, education, and informational opportunities for our adult and youth volunteers and families, in an inclusive atmosphere that is at once professional, yet social and rewarding.
