114th Services Flight completes home station training

VOLK FIELD, WI --  114th Force Support Squadron services flight attended a week long training at the CRTC located at Volk Field, Wis. June 20-26.  The training included the units annual required home station training on various topics.

The flight is required to train on all aspects of the career field during their annual home station training.  The training coordinators designed the training to incorporate classroom portions along with hands on sessions.  The services career field covers food service, mortuary affairs, fitness and recreation, and lodging.

Members constructed 4 small shelter systems, conducted a search and recovery exercise, and planned fitness and recreation events every evening for members to participate in and build comradery. 

"It is fun to train with friends and fellow airmen." stated Senior Airman Amber Spade, 114th Force Support Squadron food service technician.

Each training block in the career field was taught by subject matter experts.  Members organized the training to meet requirements while keeping personnel engaged.

"Training can be more in-depth since instructors tend to spend ample time preparing training, materials, and hands-on portions." stated Maj. Sallie Ketcham, 114th Force Support Squadron commander.

Personnel also completed Four Lenses training.  Capt. Nick VanDeweerd, 114th Services Flight commander and Four Lenses facilitator, conducted the training.  The training gives perspective on how personalities interact within the work environment.

"When we can train like this away from our home base, there are very little distractions from home while completing training. It also gives us perspective on how others operate." stated Ketcham.
