The 114th Fighter Wing, South Dakota Air National Guard, underwent several senior leadership changes during a ceremony at Joe Foss Field, May 1.

Brig. Gen. Steven C. Warren, former chief of staff, Headquarters SDANG, replaced Brig. Gen. Matthew P. Jamison as the new assistant adjutant general for the Air Guard.  Jamison retired effective May 1 with over 37 years of military service.

Brig. Gen. Russ A. Walz, former 114th Fighter Wing commander, relinquished command to Col. Nathan B. Alholinna, former vice commander of the unit.  Walz begins his new position as director of joint staff at Joint Force Headquarters, South Dakota National Guard and SDANG chief of staff.  This position with joint leadership of the SDNG carried a promotion to brigadier general.

The above changes prompted several other change of commands at the 114th Fighter Wing to include; Col. Nathan B. Alholinna to 114th Fighter Wing commander, Col. Gregory W. Lair to 114th Fighter Wing vice commander, and Lt. Col. Quenten M. Esser to 114th Operations Group commander.
