  • SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Col. Russ A. Walz, 114th Fighter Wing commander, will be promoted to the rank of Brig. Gen. May 1, 2016 and moving to his new position as the Director of Joint Staff, Joint Force Headquarters, South Dakota National Guard and South Dakota Air National Guard Chief of Staff. Walz has served as the 114th Fighter Wing commander for 10 years and is a command pilot with over 3,750 total fighter hours in the A-7D and F-16C aircraft.     114th Operations Group change of command

    Two change of command ceremonies were held at Joe Foss Field, S.D. May 1, 2016.  Col. Gregory W. Lair, 114th Fighter Wing vice commander, relinquished command of the 114th Operations Group to Lt. Col. Quenten M. Esser, former 175th Fighter Squadron commander.  Esser is a command pilot with the unit and had served as the 175th Fighter Squadron

    Airmen spend time mentoring

    Airmen from the South Dakota Air National Guard were recognized at the quarterly technician meeting April 20, 2016 for their volunteering efforts.  Col. Nathan B.     Col. Nathan B. Alholinna, 114th Fighter Wing vice commander, presented $500 checks to two different  local organizations at the quarterly technician meeting on April 20, 2016.     South Dakota Air National Guard appoints new Command Chief

    2016 will see a new Command Chief Master Sgt. in the state of South Dakota.  Chief Master Sgt. Jeanne Gacke will be replacing Chief Master Sgt. James M.
